‘Here we go’: Romano says Leeds have completed £20m-plus add-ons move
Fabrizio Romano says Leeds United have completed a £20million-plus add-ons move to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams. The USA star is now expected to travel to Leeds to undergo a medical and sign a long-term deal. Adams, 23, has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road since reports emerged that Kalvin Phillips would join Manchester City. On Monday, that came to fruition – Phillips signing a six-year deal at The Etihad. Now, Leeds are going about their business to replace Phillips. Adams looks to be that man. The USA and Leipzig man is a player Marsch knows well, having worked with him at Leipzig and during his days as New York Red Bulls manager. Reports state that Leeds are hoping to complete a double deal for both Adams and Luis Sinisterra before the end of the week. Now, Romano posted his catchphrase ‘here we go’ regarding a Leeds move Adams, north of £20million. A brilliant bit of business for Leeds. Adams has been linked quite regularly with a move to the Premier League and now it appears that the midfielder will get a move to the Premier League – a third spell under Marsch. Leeds desperately need a midfielder after the loss of Phillips. While Adams might not be the player Phillips is, he has the potential to grow into that mould. There is also consideration that Phillips was not ideal for Marsch’s system. For a fee of £20million plus add-ons, Leeds are getting a player with almost 200 appearances for club and country. USMNT drop massive Leeds hint as Romano says Leeds complete Adams deal
Moments after Fabrizio Romano reported that Leeds had ‘completed’ a deal to sign Tyler Adams, the US Men’s National Team dropped a massive hint on their official Twitter account – suggesting a deal is done. Adams, 23, is on the verge of completing a move to Elland Road after Leeds sold Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City. The England star has put pen to paper on a six-year deal at the Etihad, and Leeds are responding quickly. Reports state that Leeds want to complete deals for Adams and Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra before the weekend. Leeds jet off to Australia for their pre-season tour soon, and two deals could be done beforehand. It seems like Adams will be one. Romano reported ‘here we go’ on Twitter on a deal worth £20million, as well as add-ons. Moments after Romano’s report, the USMNT’s official account posted a picture of Adams and Brenden Aaronson. All fingers are pointing towards a deal that will see Adams join Leeds. Romano’s update is a big one and there could be confirmation of a move in the coming days. Adams will travel to Leeds soon to undergo a medical. Now, the USMNT have all but posted confirmation of a deal. Only minutes after Romano’s update, they posted a picture of Adams alongside new Leeds man Aaronson and it is clear they are hinting a deal is done. It is a brilliant signing for Leeds – not only because Adams is a top player with enormous potential. But because it sees them immediately ease concerns over the loss of Phillips, rather than let the Leeds fanbase grow concerned.
