Winning any of Europe's leagues is a source of pride, but winning a European trophy is one of the greatest achievements a manager can make.

Many managers have won top European titles over the years, including the Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, Intertoto Cup, Cup Winners Cup, and the newly formed Europa Conference League.

We would look at the best managers in European football history based on the number of European titles won.

Last season, Carlo Ancelotti led Real Madrid to their 14th Champions League title.

In the process, the Italian manager became the first to win the Champions League four times. With the victory, he also cemented his position as the best manager in European football history based on European titles won.

Carlo Ancelotti now has eight European titles to his name. He has won four Champions Leagues, one Intertoto Cup, and three UEFA Super Cups.

The former Chelsea manager is followed by Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary Manchester United manager, and Giovanni Trapattoni, a retired Italian manager. Both retired managers have six European titles to their names.

The latter won the Champions League once, the Cup Winners Cup once, the Europa League three times, and the UEFA Super Cup once. In contrast, Sir Alex Ferguson won two Champions League titles, two Cup Winners Cups, and two UEFA Super Cups.

Bob Paisley, the late Liverpool manager, is regarded as one of the greatest British managers of all time.

The late Englishman is also regarded as one of the best managers in European football history, having won five European titles prior to his death in 1996.

Bob Paisley won three Champions Leagues, one Europa League, and one UEFA Super Cup.

He is in the same league as former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, and current AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho.

In his managerial career, Zidane has three Champions League titles and two UEFA Super Cups. Pep Guardiola has won two Champions Leagues and three Super Cups.

Jose Mourinho has twice won the Champions League, twice won the UEFA Super Cup, and once won the Europa Conference League.
