According to reports in Spain, Bernardo Silva has informed Manchester City that he wishes to leave the club and join Barcelona.
Bernardo Silva has been linked with a return to City.
According to Spanish media reports, Bernardo Silva has decided to join Barcelona this summer.
According to Sport, Bernardo has informed Pep Guardiola and Manchester City of his intentions, as speculation in Spain continues to link the Portuguese playmaker to the Camp Nou. According to the report, City would demand at least €100 million for Bernardo, who has three years left on his current contract, but Barcelona would try to reduce that fee by at least €40 million.
This could result in one of City's best players leaving for around £50 million, and fans are less than thrilled at the prospect of losing such a popular member of the squad for so little.
Pep Guardiola stated last month, when announcing City's August friendly against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, that he expected Bernardo to stay at City. However, he did not rule out a summer exit, and Barcelona president Joan Laporta appeared content to field questions about Bernardo, even asking Guardiola about the 27-year-old.
In response to the latest reports linking Bernardo to Barcelona, City fans had a simple response, sending a strong message about his value.
Taking to Twitter, the general consensus was that if Barcelona were to sign Bernardo, fans would not be satisfied with anything less than the reported £100 million asking price - with a figure of £120 million mentioned as a realistic valuation of his abilities.
Bernardo has been open about his desire to leave City, citing homesickness during the pandemic, but he has always insisted that while contracted at the Etihad, he would give his all and was not unhappy to stay. When asked by reporters earlier this summer, Guardiola said Barcelona would have a "difficult time" signing Bernardo.

Barcelona has set aside €45 million for Sevilla's Jules Kounde, but the Andalusian club has refused to accept it.
The Frenchman has been linked with the Blaugrana for some time, but he has also been linked with Chelsea, who made a bigger offer last summer. The Blues were willing to pay €50 million for Kounde, but the Sevillistas (via Sport) refused because they want to sell him for a higher price. The centre-back is worth €60 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Barcelona may struggle to meet that price right now due to their poor financial situation, which prevents them from signing any new players.
Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen have agreed to join the club but have yet to be officially announced, though this could change this week. Both arrived on free transfers after finishing their contracts with AC Milan and Chelsea, respectively, last month.
The Blaugrana's wage bill must be reduced, but financial difficulties may force Kounde to join the Blues instead. The west London club is looking to rebuild their squad, particularly their defense, now that Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have left Stamford Bridge.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso have also been linked with a move to Barcelona.
