However, one player has been a top scorer in both the Euros and the Fifa World Cup, which no other player has ever done. David Villa, a former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid striker, is the only player to hold this record.
The Spaniard was the top scorer in Euro 2008, playing a key role in Spain winning the tournament. He scored over four goals and was Spain's main striker, starting ahead of Fernando Torres.
Villa went on to lead the world in scoring again two years later, this time at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The Spaniard scored five goals for Spain, tying him with German forward.
Spain went on to win the World Cup, and Villa's goals played a significant role in their success. He is the only player to have been the leading scorer in both the World Cup and the Euros.
