The Kofi Annan International Peace Training Center (KAIPTC) in collaboration with the Austrian Defense Ministry (MoD) hosted a two-week Political Adviser Training course on African Peacekeeping Operations.
The study conducted at KAIPTC in Accra officially started on Monday, July 4, 2022.
The full purpose of this course is to train UN Missionary Political Advisers in Africa, the AU and ECOWAS missions and missions.
It also aims to empower senior staff from African countries and organizations to identify the core functions of political advisors (PolAds) who work in conflict and crisis and to improve the quality of information they provide.
In his inaugural address, KAIPTC Commander Major General Francis Ofori emphasized that the role of political advisor in the workplace is crucial in providing machine leadership in the proper analysis of political, regional and emerging political developments and making recommendations on possible policies, strategies and alternatives. and disturbing news.

The complexity of the political and security environment in many African regions, where the launch of missions and operations poses a challenge to the heads of missions and project managers to effectively assess, monitor and analyze the impact and political consequences of their actions.
And, because of the many different tasks, these mission heads and commanders have to perform, they are often unable to recognize the full series of developments from strategic and international levels to domestic and regional contexts.
All of these challenges can contribute to job success. As a result, the role of the political advisor is crucial in providing leadership with a comprehensive analysis of development, trends and emerging issues in the country or region and making recommendations on potential policies, strategies and other approaches to addressing issues of concern.
Despite the potential role of Political Advisers (PolAds) and the significant involvement of African countries in African activities and activities, the official training of PolAds of Task Officers and / or Heads of Mission has not yet been introduced in Africa.
It is for these reasons that KAIPTC and the Austrian MoD offer this study to build the capacity of potential and potential physicians.
