For the first time, Tyrell Malacia has discussed his $13 million move from Feyenoord to Manchester United, mentioning Robin van Persie as an inspiration and expressing his excitement to play for Erik ten Hag.
Tyrell Malacia, a rookie at Manchester United, said that following in the Old Trafford steps of Robin van Persie is a dream come true.
The defender from Feyenoord arrived in a £13 million transfer, becoming Erik ten Hag's first acquisition for the Reds. The 22-year-old joined the Premier League after rising through the ranks at the Rotterdam club, much like Van Persie.
And while it is an incredible delight to wear the jersey that his idol wore for three years during the end of his spectacular playing career, Malacia's dream was first sparked when he first traveled to Manchester for a youth-team event. I've always watched Manchester United since Robin van Persie, a Feyenoord player, played there, said Malacia.
He was a young man like myself who had graduated from the Feyenoord academy. Because of this, I felt particularly drawn to this club. Years ago, I participated in a youth competition with the Feyenoord team at United, and I was incredibly amazed by everything. I promised myself, "I'll return here one day." Now that it has materialized,That has now materialized, which is obviously excellent.
This is one of the largest clubs in the world, and it has a great stadium, a great history, and, of course, a lot of elite players that have played here. I am happy to have this opportunity, and I am also quite proud of myself. I am aware that the job at a higher level only just got started.
"Getting better every day and demonstrating your ability to perform at this level. This is a reward for the hard work I've put in during my career, both for myself and for everyone who has ever believed in me and supported me.
Malacia enjoys his time with Manchester United.
Van Persie, who works at the Feyenoord academy, declined the chance to join Ten Hag's backroom staff at United when the Dutchman took over at Old Trafford. Malacia disclosed that when United expressed interest in him, he went to the former striker for guidance.
Additionally, he has spoken with Tahith Chong, an aggressive midfielder who played on Feyenoord's junior squad before joining United in 2016. Malacia said, "I talked to him (Van Persie) about the club and the city," in an interview with the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. relating to housing
"I have heard a lot via my boyhood friend Tahith Chong, who I played with at Feyenoord. I'm only getting to this point, therefore I still have to demonstrate my abilities. But I do want to aim high and pursue my goals, and I do believe I am capable of doing so.
I had a fantastic talk with Mr. Ten Hag and feel that I have a really strong connection to him because he is a very skilled instructor and a friendly person. That's crucial because, if everything goes well, we'll be working together for a very long time. That excites me because I believe I can learn a lot from him. When they are willing to put in the effort, he has a history of helping players develop personally.
Malacia joined Feyenoord at the age of seven, and it was difficult for him to say goodbye to his teammates before departing for Manchester on the weekend. He acknowledged, though, that the opportunity to play in the Premier League was too excellent to pass up.
"My teammates at Feyenoord were quite sad since I played with some of them for so long and we really developed a bond," Malacia added. I received well wishes from everyone, and I will remain in touch with many of those men. My club is Feyenoord, and it always will be. Yes, Feyenoord is my home and will always hold a special place in my heart. I am a boy of the club and of the city.

But there comes a time when you have to say goodbye because I want to achieve the maximum level. I'll never forget what Feyenoord owes me. But I adore the atmosphere at English stadiums. The Dutch team that comes closest to that is Feyenoord. I am very excited to experience it because it will be amazing.
"I also think the pace and attitude of the games will fit my style of play. And just consider all the outstanding Premier League players:Ronaldo, De Bruyne, Salah, as well as Henry, Van Persie, and Van Nistelrooy in the past.
