Tottenham 'helped' by Chelsea after journalist's Clement Lenglet update - Hutton
Alan Hutton suspects Tottenham may be exploiting Barcelona’s financial situation to seal a deal for Clement Lenglet. Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs defender said the Spanish club will be looking to get rid of players like Lenglet to free up space for new signings like Andreas Christensen. On Monday (4 July), journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that an agreement over a loan move for the 27-year-old was being finalised. He currently has four years left on his contract with the Spanish club. When asked if he thought Antonio Conte’s side had exploited the financial situation at Barca, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think it’s helped. “Tying in the fact obviously that they’ve signed [Andreas] Christensen from Chelsea as well. “They’re freeing up space, getting rid of players that aren’t going to be used, there’s quite a few of them at this moment in time at Barcelona. “Of course the financial restraints that they have means that they’re going to have to get rid of some of these players. And they’ll be on big wages, they’ll have long contracts and it’s always going to be a problem to ship them out. “So I think Tottenham have done well to get this over the line. I think he’s a good player, they’re looking to strengthen that back three and he can play in that position. “So it’s a good signing overall for player and both clubs.“ In other news, an ex-Premier League referee has suggested Richarlison may face Tottenham ban as new claim issued. {{#primary_category}} {{primary_category}} {{/primary_category}}
