The Ghana Garden and Flower Show, the movement's main event, has been going on for ten years.

The 2022 edition of this exhibition will begin today and run from August 31 to September 4 at the Efua Sutherland Children's Park.

The movement was started by Strategic Communications Africa Limited (Stratcomm Africa) as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative. For this, it uses its expertise in communication, particularly in behavioural change communication, to help people understand the importance of gardening and growing flowers as individuals, groups, communities, and a nation.

Promoting a greener, cleaner, healthier, wealthier, and more attractive nation is the goal. The expo will bring together industry professionals in the floral sector for interaction in addition to the types of local and international flowers and plants that will be on display.

Interview

Ghana shouldn't regard gold and other mineral resources as the only way to get foreign investors into the nation, according to Esther Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stratcomm Africa, in an interview conducted before to the launch.

A concentration on the horticulture and flower industries, according to her, might draw foreign investors and tourists to the nation.

She claimed that gardens and flowers have a propensity to make the area more appealing and alluring to investors in addition to being greener and cleaner.

The mentor of young people, especially young women, claimed that the flower and gardening industries were also a means of employment development for the youth and urged them to remain in the nation in order to contribute to its beautification.

benefits of flowers and gardening

Speaking of the advantages of maintaining gardens at home and growing flowers, Ms. Cobbah noted that in addition to providing food, beautifying homes, and creating jobs, research had shown that people who lived in gardens or were exposed to the countryside where there were plants had no blood pressure and were more at peace than those who live in environments made of brick and mortar.

Therefore, in order to protect and enhance the environment, the multiple award-winning communications professional advised the public to produce flowers and maintain gardens at home. She also said that people should refrain from trashing the environment, especially with plastics.

According to her, "you and I have the obligation to perform our part to guarantee that water does not gather and harm our residents" until the nation raises the funds to upgrade the sewers.

The event this year

In addition to the variety of flowers and plants that would be on display at this year's Ghana Garden and Flower Show, Ms. Cobbah explained in her description of the event, there would also be artwork, pots, garden ornaments, clothing, and everything else associated with gardening and environmental beautification.

She listed the events for this year's show, which will have a fashion show with a garden theme, master courses, a music night, a movie night, karaoke, and kid-friendly sessions.

The theme for the presentation was "Unleashing expansion" because it was Stratcomm Africa's 28th anniversary this year, she explained.

According to Ms. Cobbah, the show was Stratcomm Africa's means of promoting sustainable living by increasing awareness of and access to information on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
