Why Burna Boy calls his music Afrofusion rather than Afrobeats
Nigerian artist Burna Boy has said that the class of music he is engaging fans with is Afrofusion, not Afrobeats as many have expected.
As indicated by him, he began making Afrofusion music to stand apart in light of the fact that at the time each music he heard sounded something very similar.
Talking on the Million Dollar Worth of Game web recording, Burna Boy made sense of that his music is a combination of various classes of music across Africa.
"It was one sort of move and for my purposes, there was nothing I could distinguish myself with. So I recently concluded that I'll call it Afrofusion since it's a combination of everything," he expressed.
The 'Last' hitmaker added that "the Afro-Africaness is what covers it, the jug holds the entire beverage. For that reason I generally ensure that everyone realizes this is what I do, it's Afrofusion."
Burna Boy accepts that it is uncalled for to Africans for the world to arrange each music as Afrobeats.
He made sense of that similarly as rapper Nas can't be called a RnB vocalist or vocalist Whitney Houston called a rapper since they are American, not all African performers ought to be viewed as Afrobeats artistes.
"We have Highlife, Juju music, Fuji music, South African Kwaeto music, Amapiano, Afropop, we have a wide range of sorts in Africa. To be truly genuine, for you to simply call all that Afrobeats sort of gives a raw deal to the artistes," the Nigerian performer said.
