The 23-year-old defender has been linked closely with the Blues as Thomas Tuchel looks for defensive reinforcements. Both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are free and the Sevilla ace looks like the perfect replacement.
La Liga club boss José María Cruz de Andrés recently confirmed Kounde wants to continue and even mentioned Chelsea as an option.
He said: “Again, I'm sure the player respects Sevilla FC. He is happy with us.“In the case of Kounde, it is not a question of money. It's about wanting to play in a more competitive side than Sevilla FC.
“I am sure that he is an attractive player for teams like Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and such teams.
"He wants to play in a more competitive team".
However, Tuchel was dealt a severe blow on Monday when the star was substituted in France's Nations League defeat by Croatia.And his national boss, Didier Deschamps, later revealed he now needs surgery over a long-term injury problem.
After the game, Deschamps declined to offer any indication of how long the ace would be out or explain what the injury problem was.
But he said, “I knew his physical condition very well today.
"Tomorrow [Tuesday] they will intervene [surgically] because he has a problem that he has had for several months".
According to Football London, the problem has now been revealed to be due to a hip problem.Chelsea have also been linked with several other defenders this summer.
