Leeds Utd verging on record Sinisterra coup to replace Raphinha, though key clause could dampen spirits

Leeds Utd are on the cusp of signing Luis Sinisterra for a fee that will break a record at Feyenoord, though the insertion of a clause may dampen the mood ever so slightly. The Whites could be about to lose their two best players in the same summer. Kalvin Phillips joined Manchester City on Monday. The midfielder generated a £42m fee that could potentially rise to £45m pending add-ons. Raphinha has been the subject of a £60m bid from Chelsea that both the Athletic and Fabrizio Romano claimed Leeds had accepted. However, the Brazilian is yet to agree personal terms with the Blues and has his heart set on joining Barcelona. That transfer saga could drag on, though it’s looking increasingly likely Raphinha won’t be at Elland Road next season. Jesse Marsch must ensure the money they’ll recoup is spent wisely. In that regard, Leeds look on course to fill the Phillips void with USA international, Tyler Adams. Regarding Raphinha’s position, Feyenoord winger, Luis Sinisterra, quickly emerged as the primary target. Now, transfer guru Romano has shed new light on the situation, and it makes great reading for Leeds fans on the whole. The trusted journalist tweeted Leeds are ‘closing’ on a deal worth £21.5m to Feyenoord. Add-ons could take the final figure higher, though the initial fee is already enough to become Feyenoord’s most expensive ever sale. Contract clause may be inserted The 23-year-old Colombia international has already agreed personal terms with Leeds. However, one minor drawback could come in the form of a sell-on clause. Romano added the deal could include such a clause, though didn’t state at what percentage it would be set at. A sell-on clause would ensure Leeds do not recoup full value in the event they sell Sinisterra down the line. However, that is a small price to pay if it helps land the winger in the first place. Sinisterra to prompt Leeds reshuffle? Sinisterra is right-footed and has predominantly featured on the left flank for Feyenoord. In contrast, the potentially outbound Raphinha plays on the right. As such, the likeliest scenario would see Sinisterra take the left wing role with either Jack Harrison or Daniel James shifting into the position Raphinha vacates. Of course, Sinisterra could be asked to switch wings too. However, his 23 goals in 49 matches from the left last season would suggest he’ll be given priority.

Fabrizio Romano has given Leeds United’s move for Luis Sinisterra the here we go treatment on Twitter overnight, suggesting that the transfer is almost ready to be announced with a deal agreed. However, Whites supporters are probably yet to accept that there may be a chance that he could yet stay. Sinisterra would certainly be a player who has the potential to get fans out of their seats in a similar way. He scored 23 goals in all competitions last season. The Colombian also provided 14 assists. Photo by Craig Mercer/MB Media/Getty Images Romano himself confirmed that a move was on the verge of going through this week. And he has now provided a further update. The journalist announced on Twitter that a deal is complete. Leeds will pay £21.5 million with add-ons for the Feyenoord star.
