After just one season with the club, Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to leave, and his prior error in judgment has come back to haunt him.

Cristiano Ronaldo may now regret his Man Utd return

Cristiano Ronaldo might now regret rejoining Manchester United.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo's apparent desire to leave the club has dealt Erik ten Hag a severe blow. Manchester United may have finally made their first signing under ten Hag.

As a result of Ronaldo's request to leave the team, the signing of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord has been somewhat overshadowed. The Portuguese star has continued to skip workouts, and it is now doubtful that he will join the team on their preseason tour. Last summer, Ronaldo seemed set to make a fairy-tale comeback, The five-time Ballon d'Or winner wanted to win back the championship for the team he loved.

But less than a year later, he already wants out of United because they were denied Champions League eligibility for the next year. Ronaldo might be deeply regretting his grave lack of good judgment that caused him to return to Old Trafford.

After being noticed during a preseason match against Sporting Lisbon in 2003, Ronaldo established himself at United. Six years after Sir Alex Ferguson made every effort to sign him, Real Madrid shelled out £80 million on him, making him the most expensive signing of all time.

The Portuguese player had three years at Juventus before going on to have incredible success with Madrid, but he still had good feelings for United. When he left United in 2009, they were still the best team in England, and Ronaldo cherished the special moments he shared with Ferguson and his bond with the supporters close to his heart.

The footballing world can see how far they have fallen since Ferguson left the club thanks to Ronaldo, who is undoubtedly not a fool. Even Ronaldo, who was incredibly naive to the fundamental difficulties that still exist at the club, cannot have known how much has changed at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo only returned to Man Utd last summer

Ronaldo only recently went back to Manchester United.

"I think it's the best move that I have taken," Ronaldo stated in his first interview after re-signing with United. I believe it to be pertinent.

"I moved from Juventus to Manchester now; it's a new chapter, I'm very thrilled and glad, and I want to carry on again, to make history, to try to support Manchester in achieving big results, to win trophies and, number one of them, to accomplish great things."

But Ronaldo's 'greatest decision' might end up being one of his worst ones since he risks jeopardizing his supposedly indestructible bond with the supporters by forcing a transfer and because a condition in his contract pertaining to the club's Champions League standing has reportedly reduced his compensation.

Ronaldo only returned to Man Utd last summer

The Manchester United team today is substantially different from what it was in 2009.

The tough, gritty United team from the past is no longer present; in its place is a group of players who would have been disregarded ten years ago. Ten Hag's idea won't be a quick remedy, either, as the Glazer ownership is becoming more and more unpopular with the fans.

Although Ronaldo is a fantastic player and one of the finest to ever do it, he doesn't exactly have a lot of time left in his career at the age of 37. To maintain his legacy, the Portuguese superstar must participate in the Champions League.

Since making his position plain, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been linked with implausible moves to Chelsea and Bayern Munich, but he has a year left on his deal at United. Even while the transfer story is far from done, so far it hasn't been as unpleasant as it could have been.
