PRU WEST: CATTLE TAKE PROPOSED DISTRICT ASSEMBLY BLOCK AS GRAZING GROUNDS

Cattle herds are now grazing on the site of the projected Pru West District Assembly administration building at Prang in the district seat.

The project, which was supposed to commence in 2019 and be finished in nine months, has been shelved for a while. Since more than a month ago, unidentified herders have been moving their livestock to pasture while leaving a mess behind.

In addition to consuming the grass that was planted, the daily volume of poo is a complete eyesore. Residents in the region who were alarmed by the herdsmen's actions complained to our news crew. To guarantee that the project is operational as soon as feasible, they should also pick up the pace of work.

Currently, the sole building on the property or site is an unfinished administration building. The building is now overrun with weeds and reptiles, despite the assembly spending millions to rent a location.

On March 15, 2018, Pru East District was divided into Pru West District thanks to a Legislative Instrument (LI) that the Parliament approved in 2017. Although they are now occupying their project, the Pru East District Assembly also began its administrative project that year.

Residents told the News Team that the contractor left the location just after the 2020 general elections and hasn't come back since. The sooner construction is undertaken since parts of the abandoned structure have already begun to deteriorate, the better. Romeo Oppong, a local, made a plea for the project's completion.

"We are unsure about the culprit. Whether it be the contractor or the government. Since other districts are already utilizing theirs, we want the project to be finished as soon as possible. The project's completion would also create jobs for locals through the provision of services and other temporary employees, the speaker claimed.

"Right now, we need the work to be completed. He said, "We also deserve a better working atmosphere.
