The Danish international appears to be Man United's second summer signing.

Erik ten Hag's charm offensive has already helped Manchester United secure a deal for young full-back Tyrell Malacia. According to reports, the club also persuaded free agent Christian Eriksen to sign on the dotted line. Getting the Dane, on the other hand, was no easy task.

Brentford, where the Danish international spent six months last season, were desperate to sign him to a long-term deal. They were even willing to violate their wage structure in order to complete the signing.

Thomas Frank is a huge fan of his countryman, and he witnessed firsthand how Eriksen's presence in the middle of the park galvanised his team and helped them win seven of the ten matches he started.

Frank was confident that the former Inter Milan player would stay in South London after the club took a chance on him when no one else would.

Eriksen's camp, on the other hand, was demanding a large sum of money in order for their client to remain in London. According to The Telegraph, Eriksen was seeking a weekly salary of £200,000 as well as a signing bonus of £10 million.

That would have comfortably made him the Bees' highest-earning player. Despite rumors linking him to former club Tottenham Hotspur and even Chelsea, United won the race to sign the midfield maestro.

United require quality in the middle of the park. Ten Hag is familiar with the player, having allowed him to train with Ajax before signing with Brentford. And his adamant desire to sign the former Ajax player proved decisive.

While other clubs were thought to be interested, it was United who offered the player a three-year contract. However, it is unclear whether United has agreed to the player's exact monetary demands.

Previously, it was reported that United were willing to offer him a two-year contract worth £150,000 per week. The actor has verbally agreed to a contract, and the details of his medical and final contract are still pending.

Eriksen appears to be the next player to arrive at Carrington, with the club also in talks with another midfield target, Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong.

After losing Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata, it was clear that the club needed to strengthen in the midfield.

Eriksen's versatility allows him to fill a variety of roles in that department. While he excelled as an advanced playmaker for Spurs, he is equally adept as a midfield pivot or midfield three, as he demonstrated at Brentford.

The move represents a significant step forward for a player who suffered cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 and had to be fitted with an ICD, which meant no club dared to sign him.
