Carlo Ancelotti has made his choice. After assuming that the club will not seek a new striker in the market, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has decided that Borja Mayoral (25 years old) will serve as Karim Benzema's first replacement. Today, the man from Madrid provides him with more guarantees than the other two options: Serbian Luka Jovic and Dominican Mariano Daz.
Carletto made this decision after considering the Spaniard's excellent performance at AS Roma and Getafe in his previous assignments. In his first year with the Giallorossi, the striker added 17 goals and seven assists in 45 official matches.
With a contract until June 2023, the footballer will have one last and almost unexpected chance to make a career at the merengue club this year. And if he manages to take advantage of his opportunities and sign an acceptable season, the Chamartn entity will most likely offer him a renewal.
Ancelotti's decision to back Mayoral puts Jovic on the ropes, as he appears to be setting his sights on Fiorentina, and Daz, despite everything, is still willing to fulfill the commitment that binds him to the entity.
Carletto has stated that if he chooses to complete his contract (which expires in 2023), he will respect his decision.
