Lionel Messi promised he wouldn't join the Liverpool, Manchester City, or Tottenham Teams

Lionel Messi has been linked to a move to Manchester City in the past, but Danny Mills doubts he would fit in with Pep Guardiola's team and two of its opponents.Three of the top Premier League teams—Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur—would struggle to include Lionel Messi in their starting lineups.

According to former England international Danny Mills, the Argentine legend has suffered a precipitous drop over the previous season. Despite that assertion, Mills maintains that Messi, rather than Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United, is the finest footballer he has ever seen.

Messi struggled in his debut season at Paris Saint-Germain, scoring just six goals in 25 games in Ligue 1. To add another trophy to his crowded mantlepiece, he did take the top-flight title. Although they were eliminated from both competitions in the round of 16, the French juggernauts were unable to win the Coupe de France and the Champions League.

According to the Liverpool Echo, when asked if Messi would play for a top Premier League team, Mills responded, "I think he is the finest footballer I have ever seen. I didn't see [Diego] Maradona or [Johan] Cruyff in person. The best footballer I have ever watched is Messi.

"I know Ronaldo may have slightly better statistics, he plays more in important games, and all of that, but Messi is the best pure football player," said the commentator. But would you include Messi in your team right now? Most likely not.

"Realistically, we're talking Premier League. His transfer requests were rejected by Tottenham, City, and Liverpool. Not at all, in my opinion.

After Liverpool made three summer signings, Mills made his remarks regarding Messi. Darwin Nunez joined from Benfica for £65 million, Calvin Ramsay moved from Aberdeen, and Fulham's Fabio Carvalho joined on a free transfer. The Reds' transfer window is anticipated to close at that point, with Jurgen Klopp prepared to postpone strengthening his midfield until 2023 despite being linked with moves for Youri Tielemans and Jude Bellingham.

Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund was signed by City during the busy transfer period for a significant sum of money. Stefan Ortega joined them from Arminia Bielefeld, and Julian Alvarez moved from River Plate to improve their goalkeeping options.

Tottenham's summer has gotten off to an equally busy start with Antonio Conte eager to bolster his team before the season opener against Southampton. As they prepare to compete for championships the following season, Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, and Richarlison have all joined the North London club.
