Ashanti Region National Democratic Issues a 7-day ultimatum to the Ashanti Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Chairman Wontumi for reckless pronouncements against John Dramani Mahama.

The ultimatum was in direct response to an allegation made against the former President in a viral video over his comments advising the current government to seek an International Monetary Fund bailout.

The communication bureau of the biggest opposition National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti Region has issued a seven day ultimatum to the Ashanti Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi to retract his "drunkard" comment on the 2020 flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama.

The reaction comes at the back of a viral video which the Ashanti Regional chairman was heard taking a hard swipe at the former President and 2020 flagbearer for spending state resources on alcoholism hence the call for an International Monetary Fund bailout in 2015 when he was in office.

Former President John Mahama in an economic dialogue advised the President Akufo-Addo administration to seek for an International Monetary Fund bailout and relieve the finance minister of his position to save the economy.

Reacting to the allegations was the deputy communications officer of the Ashanti Regional National Democratic Congress, Kwaku Asafo Agyei on Kumasi based Akoma FM, he indicated that the party in the Region is giving Chairman Wontumi seven days to retract his drunkard comment or face the full wrath of the party which will be more messier and dangerous than the tone he used in attacking John Mahama.

He has dared to denigrate President Akufo-Addo and leading figures of the New Patriotic Party in direct response to what Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi said against the former President.

Mr. Asafo Agyei however cautined politicians to be decorum and have utmost respect for one another in their political conversations and interactions to ensure sanity in the system.
