In light of the present economic challenges, award-winning Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson has challenged the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to apologise to Ghanaians.

Her demand comes after the administration decided to turn to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial support.

She claims that if the government apologises, it would demonstrate "honest leadership," which many residents are likely to value.

The Nollywood actress said in a previous tweet on Friday, July 1, that the NPP "oversold" itself to Ghanaians and that, as a result, it was necessary to apologise to the country's population in light of the conflicting events.

"NPP should immediately appear and apologise to Ghanaians and acknowledge that they exaggerated. We need honest leadership like that, and I'm confident that many people will respect it. However, politics will continue.Hundreds of Ghanaians were in a rage on Friday, July 1, after hearing that the government had decided to ask the IMF for help.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the information minister, reported that President Akufo-Addo had instructed the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to contact the Fund for a potential bailout given the nation's economic difficulties.

Numerous irate residents then flocked to social media to condemn the situation.

Later, some of the disgruntled residents launched an attack on the IMF's assistance for Ghana on its official Facebook page.

"Has Ken Ofori Atta reached out to you? Omofia's finance minister (Ghana). He'll perform his face mobomobo when he gets there, but Odeishe doesn't mind. One of the resentful individuals left a comment on an IMF Facebook post saying, "When he comes, tell him to go for MTN Quick loan wai.

A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is anticipated to land in Ghana on Wednesday, July 6 to start talks with the government about the financial assistance it is requesting.

According to sources, the IMF representatives, which include senior officers from the Fund and local personnel, will meet with representatives from the Finance Ministry, the Economic Management Team, and the Presidency while they are in town.

They would be there, among other things, to discuss the specifics of a package that would boost Ghana's faltering economy.

After a number of interactions, it's anticipated that the bailout program's specifics and its conditions would be made public.
