The family of a 28-year-old trader and football player who was reportedly slain by police at Nkoranza after being abducted from his house is requesting an impartial autopsy free from police interference.

It states that it will only accept an autopsy report written by a pathologist who practises independently from the Police Hospital.

The family no longer trusts the police, according to the spokeswoman, Rev. Dr. Mathias Sarkodie, who also asserts that the agency cannot play both participant and referee in its own case.

The killing of Albert Akwasi Donkor, a digital satellite installer, who was reportedly hauled up by police on April 25, 2022, from the home of the Kasadjan family in Nkoranza, provoked rioting among the neighborhood's youth.

A final-year student of the university died as a result of an altercation between the youngsters and police. Victor Owusu's autopsy has been finished, but Albert's body has since been stored in the police hospital mortuary.

The family claims they are opposing police attempts to force them to see an autopsy on a member of their family because they believe the results will not be reliable.

"We have no faith in the cops. We cannot trust them and we cannot be interacting with them because of the way they have treated the family from the beginning.

Take a look at the information they have provided on Kwadwo Owusu. We don't believe the cops, therefore

We do not trust the police and, for that matter, we would not trust any impartial authority or pathologist to provide us with a credible result. He emphasised that the family would not be forced to submit to an autopsy that will not produce reliable results and that they will continue to pursue justice for the late Albert, even if it means going to court.

"They are welcome to touch it if they so choose. There's no issue here. We shall reject the body and hand it to them, who are free to do with it what they choose. What did they do to him when they found him inside the house still alive?

The family is of the opinion that they should dispose of the corpse anyway they see fit; we have no objections, and when the time is right, we will suit them to seek justice for Albert. The impasse results in a postponed funeral for the dead, who was also the family's primary provider.

According to Rev. Dr. Sarkodie, the family is just concerned with obtaining justice for the unarmed guy who was reportedly slain by the police and is not concerned about how long the body of their relative would remain in the mortuary.

We are not currently considering it. The family will bury him if we decide to do so following the pathology test.

The family cannot bury an armed robber, thus we want the police to inform us the truth before we choose the body for burial.

We won't take the body for any funerals until they give us the truth. No funeral is of interest to us.
