Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo was taunted by Liverpool Airport as he sought to leave Old Trafford

Given that Erik ten Hag's team won't be participating in the Champions League next year, Cristiano Ronaldo is rumored to desire to leave Manchester United this summer.

A cheeky tweet from Liverpool Airport offered Cristiano Ronaldo a way out of Manchester.

If Manchester United receives a bid for the veteran forward this summer, he reportedly wants to leave the club. He is 37 years old. Ronaldo reportedly feels let down by the club's lack of ambition during the summer transfer window and desires to compete in the Champions League the following year.

After placing sixth in the Premier League the previous season, United will participate in the Europa League this time around. Ronaldo still has a year left on his current contract, and new manager Erik ten Hag has previously stated that he is a part of his plans.

Although the future of the Real Madrid star is uncertain, Liverpool Airport took advantage of the ongoing transfer drama to defeat its nearby rival. "Itching to get out of Manchester, but want to avoid the lines," read a tweet.

"We are happy to encourage Cristiano to try the North West's Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport, where he may fly Ryanair directly to Paris or Rome or connect on a Lufthansa flight to Munich or Lisbon."

The humorous tweet made reference to the list of teams Ronaldo is associated with, which includes Sporting Lisbon, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Roma. Jamie Carragher retweeted the post after criticizing United's choice to re-sign Ronaldo.

Ronaldo helped Sir Alex Ferguson's team win nine trophies, including three Premier League championships, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup, during his first stint at the club from 2003 to 2009. He scored 118 goals during that time, making him a legend at Old Trafford.

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United this summer.

When he returned to United from Juventus last summer, many believed he would put an end to their protracted drought of victories. Their most recent trophy came in May 2017 when they defeated Ajax 2-0 to win the Europa League final. In the 2020–21 season, they placed second in the Premier League. However, Ronaldo's comeback hasn't gone as planned. Although he finished the previous season as the club's leading scorer with 24 goals across all competitions, United were eliminated from the Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup early on. In November, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired, and temporary manager Ralf Rangnick was unable to inspire the team.

Ronaldo's comeback has been blamed for United's bad performance by many detractors who say he doesn't match the team's style of play. Yet during his unveiling in May, new manager Ten Hag told reporters that the seasoned forward provides "goals," confirming that he was a part of his plans.

Ten Hag would face a tactical conundrum if Ronaldo left at this point, but expert Danny Murphy thinks that Ronaldo's departure would perhaps be for the best. It will anger one or two, I understand his wish to leave, Murphy exclusively told Mirror Football.

"However, in the long run, it might be advantageous for United. I believe there is a strong case to be made that the club would benefit more from having someone who can press from the front and who has a little more vigor and a drive to work hard off the ball."

Meanwhile, in an astounding claim, Piers Morgan argued that Ronaldo was "the only thing keeping United from fighting relegation." Other players on United's roster have also been referred to by him as "overpaid, pampered, prima donna spoiled brats."
