According to Bishop Atta Poku Collins of Sompa fm and Sompa Tv, "A Ghanaian Referee Emmanuel Tebson who is a 4th referee has been assaulted at Sefwi Bekwai by some holigans after the match between Bekwaiman United and Villa Afrique at the Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School Park.
Fans Suspected to be supporters of Bekwaiman United were not happy at all to see him add only three minutes after the 90 minutes of play time."
Bishop Atta Poku posted this on his twitter page to enlighten us about the said attack on the referee. Ghanaian Referees are mostly beaten and there’s nothing been done about it. The Ghana league is on low standards and these leaders do not give a damn about whatever is going on.
GFA is said to be investigating the case to find out who these hooligans are.
Ghanaian referees needs to be protected and protected very well.
Though some of these causes of the beatings are from the referees themselves because they do take bribe themselves to ensure a particular team win over the other by cheating them on the field. (Making decisions to favor one team instead of being neutral.
Fourth referee Mr. Gibson is in the hospital receiving treatment at the moment.
