MARIO GOTZE DECIDED BETWEEN KLOPP AND GUARDIOLA

Mario Gotze reckons. Having worked under both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp throughout his career, I think Jurgen Klopp is a better manager than Pep Guardiola.

The player who won the World Cup had his start in the professional game under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, and then he moved on to work under Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

Gotze previously played for Dortmund under the direction of Thomas Tuchel, but he believes that Jurgen Klopp is in a league of his own for one very simple reason.

"Each coach had their own set of strengths and their own guiding philosophy, but in my opinion, Jurgen Klopp did the best job in terms of people management." He led the players, the staff, and the entire club in the most effective manner. The thirty-year-old disclosed this to BILD.

Together, Gotze and Klopp won two titles in the Bundesliga and advanced all the way to the final of the Champions League in 2013, where they were ultimately defeated by Bayern. It's interesting to note that Gotze wasn't able to play in that game due to an injury, as he was scheduled to sign with Bayern Munich a few months later.

The move was made, and despite the fact that the midfielder won the World Cup with Germany in 2014 and three Bundesliga titles with Guardiola, he was never able to reach his full potential.

When Gotze returned to Dortmund in 2016, it was under the management of Tuchel, who is now the manager of Chelsea. Klopp had moved to Liverpool in 2015 at that point.

Guardiola has now moved on to become the head coach of Manchester City, where he has led the club to four of the previous five Premier League titles.

In 2016, Gotze was offered the chance to move to Liverpool, but he decided against making the move and instead chose to remain in Germany.

The Reds were not quite as good as they are now; in fact, they had just lost to Sevilla in the Europa League final and were currently eighth in the table.

When he considers it now, Gotze acknowledges that it was possibly a mistake.

He continues by saying, "In Jurgen Klopp's first season with Liverpool, the team did not qualify for the Champions League and finished ninth overall."

Even in the prior years, there was not one club that consistently competed at the highest level. I had a claim to this land because I was originally from Bavaria. "

During Thomas Tuchel's tenure as head coach, Dortmund had previously spent a season competing at the highest level. The BVB were in first place.

"Jurgen was in the process of constructing something. When you consider everything, you can't help but think, "Liverpool would have been a better choice."

Gotze made his second move away from Borussia Dortmund in 2020, this time to join PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie. He signed for the champions of the Europa League last month, Eintracht Frankfurt.
