Chelsea is nearing the 'final details' of a £45 million deal for an attacker, according to reports.

According to The Independent, Chelsea is about to finalize the £45 million acquisition of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, a rival in the Premier League.

Romelu Lukaku has been given permission by the Blues to return to Inter Milan on a season-long loan, just one year after they paid £97.5 million to acquire him. Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger both signed free transfers to join Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.

Barcelona is reportedly interested in signing Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta. The majority of players may be leaving Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea is willing to listen to bids for Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech, and Timo Werner.

The London giants have yet to sign a player this summer, despite the fact that several players may shortly leave the club. They are one of four Premier League clubs that haven't added anything to their rosters in preparation for the 2022–23 campaign.

But with the signing of Sterling, Chelsea seems to be on the verge of crossing their name off that list. The aforementioned source claims that they are nearing the "final details" of a £45 million transfer for the Manchester City player.

According to reports, the England international is thrilled about the idea of moving to Stamford Bridge. He is also anticipated to travel with the Blues on their American preseason trip.

According to the report, Manchester City might get £55 million from the transfer after add-ons. Chelsea is rumored to make the acquisition of a center-back their primary priority following the signing of Sterling.

Chelsea's pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt ended in disappointment

Matthijs de Ligt, a standout for Juventus, has been targeted by the Blues as a potential addition to bolster their defense. They have advanced negotiations to sign the Netherlands international, it was revealed earlier this month.

Bayern Munich, the defending Bundesliga champions, have recently stepped up their efforts to sign De Ligt. According to The Independent, the center-back presently wants a move to the German powerhouses.

Nathan Ake, a colleague of Sterling's at Manchester City, is another possibility for Thomas Tuchel's group this summer. The 27-year-old defender might make his way back to Stamford Bridge.

They have also been linked to a deal for Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan. They are predicted to remain at the Italian club, though.
