The Black Stars centre-back is reportedly set to undertake a medical procedure at TSG Hoffenheim in Germany ahead of a move from the France ligue 1 to the Bundesliga.
German Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have contacted France ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg over the signing of Ghana international Alexander Djiku in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Reports from France tabloid lequipi.fr, the 27-year-old is set to join Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim for an amount of about €6 million after Mark Keller, Strasbourg President okayed his move away from the club
Alexander Djiku's contract with Strasbourg was due for an expiration in the summer of 2023 and had no immediate plans of extending it. Djiku has arrived in Germany to undergo a required medical procedure on Wednesday before finalizing his move in the coming days.
Djiku featured in thirty-three games across all competitions in the 2021/2022 campaign where he scored a goal that topped headlines in major newspapers and portals in France. He scored an overhead kick goal against AS Monaco and was adjudged as best goal in the month of March. It was also voted as the club's best goal of the season.
His pillar playing style played an instrumental role in Ghana's qualification against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoffs in Kumasi and Abuja. He also featured in Ghana's team to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon earlier this year.
The 27-year-old centre-back was named the footballer of the year in the just ended Ghana Football Association Awards following an impressive season in the French lique 1 for Strasbourg last season. Clubs in Spain and England have been chasing him for his signature.
