Member of Parliament (MP) of Buem constituency in Oti Region, Mr. Kofi Iddie Adams calls for the adoption and development of the Fr Dogli Memorial Vocational and Technical Institute located in New Ayoma in the Jasikan Diocese into a model center as part. of the government's Vocational Education and Training (TVET) reform agenda.
According to him, the development of the school will greatly honor the memory of the country's most respected son - the Great Teacher Fr. Anastasius Odaye Kofi Dogli, the first Catholic priest of the Gold Coast, now in Ghana.
A Buem lawyer who lodged the complaint in parliament in a statement commemorating the centenary of Father Dogli's ordination as a priest on July 2, 1922 in Cape Coast said the late priest encouraged many in the priesthood and in formal education.
He therefore appealed to the Minister of Education and the Governor of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) to help address the infrastructure needs of the school founded by the Jasikan Diocese of the Catholic Church in 1997 to commemorate the respected indigene.
“I would like to take this opportunity to urge the Minister of Education and the Head of GETFUND to support the infrastructure needs of this great school. It would not be wrong for the Speaker for the government to accept and develop this school as one of the nationally organized TVET centers in honor of this esteemed country, '' Mr Adams said.
Introducing the glorious hat at the commemoration of Father Dogli, Mr. Kofi Adams said (Father Dogli) despised every opportunity to reach the highest level of God and encouraged schoolchildren to inculcate “the principles of hard work and devotion as encouraged by the great teachers. Fr Dogli of blessed memory. "
He described Father Dogli as "a saint who met the challenges of life and left behind a legacy of hope and resilience".
Mr. Adam stressed, “Mr. Mr Speaker, you will agree with me that we celebrate the life and ministry of the son and high priest of this country of Buemland. He is our ancestor; and I dare say that our saint who withstood the challenges of life and left us a legacy of courage, hope, and steadfastness of purpose. ”
Buem MP expressed hope that all citizens are pursuing God's will in their quest to achieve their goals.
"I hope we too can trust in the Lord our God, walk in the light of his word, do his good will as we move forward to achieve our individual and collective dreams. As a preacher of the Gospel, Father Dogli.
"We are convinced that the Lord, the righteous judge, has given him a seat among the angels and the saints at the banquet table in heaven," he concluded.
Fr Dogli was born in Baglo-Buem in August 1888, was ordained a priest on July 2, 1922 and died on May 28, 1970 after 48 years in the priesthood.
The Jasikan diocese under the leadership of Pastor Gabriel Akwasi Ababio Mante as Bishop is organizing a series of activities to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his ordination as a priest.
