Ambrose Dery, the interior minister, has cited bureaucratic procedures as the reason why the victims of the Ejura shooting incident have not received compensation.
This was in answer to a query from Bawa Braimah Mohammed, an Ejura Sekyeredumase MP, who said that the victims suffer only to make ends meet.
In response, he promised lawmakers during a Wednesday floor speech that his government is making every effort to get compensation for the victims.
He provided an explanation for the delay, stating that it occurred after the three-person committee established to look into the terrible incident in Ejura had turned in their findings. My Ministry informed the Ministry of Health in a letter about the three people who were injured to varying degrees on June 29, 2021, during the Ejura incidents.

He claims that "the Ministry of Health subsequently requested that the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital which attended to the victims produces a report on the amount of injuries to the victims to inform the decision on the quantum of compensation due then."
He continued, "In response to my Ministry's letter to the Ministry of Health, the Attorney-Office General's Department and the Ministry of Justice have also requested the Ministry of Health to establish a Medical Board to assess the current medical conditions of the three other injured parties and to state any permanent disability as a result of the shooting incident."
"Mr. Speaker, I understand the medical report on the injured people from the Komfo Anokye Hospital has been received by the Attorney-General and the Ministry of Justice to assess the boundaries due the victims. The Office of the Attorney-General has nevertheless asked the victims to provide it copies of all of their medical invoices, and they are still awaiting a response, he added.
However, he said that the two deceased individuals' families had received compensation.
