NATIONAL AMBULANCE SERVICE TRAINS 393 EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS

The 11th passing out parade for the National Ambulance Service (NAS) was held at the Paramedic and Emergency Care Training School (PECTS) at Nkenkaasu, Offinso District, Ashanti Region.

 

The parade, which was conducted for the sixth time at PECTS, saw the distribution of 393 basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

 

 

 

Several luminaries from all walks of life attended this. Deputy Minister for Health Tina Mensah, who also acted as the parade's reviewing officer, was notable among them.

 

 

 

Others were Dr. Mahama Asei Seini, Deputy Minister for Health, Augustine Collins Ntim, Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development and Member of Parliament for the region, Dr. Oheneba Danso, Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Baffour Awuah, Technical Advisor at the Special Development Initiative Secretariat, is Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang.

 

 

 

393 EMTs are trained by National Ambulance Service.

 

The remainder consists of service leaders like as Superintendent Emmanuel Adu Boahen, General Officer Commanding (GOC), MTTD Regional Command, Brigadier General Joseph Aduko Aphor, who represents the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, and Chief Superintendent Wonkyi.

 

 

The 393 freshly qualified EMTs raise the National Ambulance Service's overall workforce count to 3,016.

 

 

 

199 men and 194 women make up the batch 11 of EMTs.

 

 

 

Speaking to the EMTs, Mrs. Tina Mensah, Deputy Minister for Health, praised the National Ambulance Service for their diligence and commitment to duty during the previous She expressed her gratitude to the NAS Management for producing thus many EMTs in just one year.

 

 

 

 

 

"I thank the teachers, facilitators, and Ambulance Service overall for their efforts towards the training of EMTs to assist deliver emergency services to the doors steps of Ghanaians," she stated.

 

 

 

She continued, pointing out that it's important to note that applicants to the NAS receive training in performing operations like haemorrhage management, positive pressure breathing using a bag valve mask, and insertion into oropharyngeal airways to preserve a patent airway.

 

 

The late Offinso Hene, Nana Wiafe Akenten, and others are well appreciated, according to Madam Tina Mensah. for his dedication to EMS in Ghana and his decision to provide the National Ambulance Service access to the facility in spite of multiple requests from other organisations.

 

 

 

She said that the long-term objective of the Paramedic and Emergency Care Training School is to become the primary training facility for paramedics in the sub-region. It will also provide as a location for refresher training for countrywide paramedics, critical care nurses, and emergency physicians.

 

 

 

 

 

Nana Opoku Duah, the Offinso Traditional Council's acting president, urged the administration to succeed and build on the school's success.

 

 

 

The Chief fervently pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to give "PECTS the much-needed makeover. President Akufo-Addo was requested by Nana Opoku Duah II on behalf of the Queen Mother and the residents of Offinso to put the infrastructure growth of PECTS in his top priorities."

 

 

 

The management of NAS received assurances from Nana Opoku Duah ll that the Offinso residents would never engage the Service in a standoff.

 

 

 

The occasion also marked the debut of the new NAS "Camouflage" outfit.
