On Saturday, July 2, 2022, the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) hosted the fourth annual Ghana Football Awards.
On Saturday, July 2, the Ghana Football Awards announced that Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku was the winner of the Men's Footballer of the Year award.
To win the award, the Strasbourg center back outperformed Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey, Jojo Wollacott, and Mohammed Salisu.
Asante Kotoko, winners of the Ghana Premier League, dominated the awards with Prosper Ogum Narteh as head coach and Nana Yaw Amponsah as CEO at the helm. Awarded Footballer of the Year at the 2022 Ghana Football Awards was Alexander Djiku.
Outstanding individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the growth of football and succeed in their many fields on and off the field locally and globally have been recognized via the Awards Scheme.
The Black Stars player from France triumphed, beating out Mohammed Salisu of Southampton and his fellow Black Stars teammates Joojo Wollacott, Daniel Amartey, Thomas Partey, and Daniel Amartey.
Djiku played a significant role in Ghana's qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as well as helping Strasbourg finish sixth in Ligue 1.
