The third Registrar of the E.P. University College (EPUC) in Ho, Togbe Dogbega V, is a traditional leader and lay preacher of the Gospel.
George Kwaku Debrie, also known as the Agbotagbala of Vakpo-Todzi in the Volta Region, previously served as the Deputy Registrar and Head of the Governing Council Secretariat at the University for Development Studies, Tamale.
Obed Worlanyo Kwame Adom, who served in that role for six years, is replaced by him.
Profile
At the University of Ghana (UG), Legon, Mr. Debrie received a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in English with a Christian religion study in 1975.
The School of Communication Studies, UG awarded him a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Communication as well. Graduate with a degree in marketing and a certificate from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK
Before joining the Ghana Agro-Foods Company in 1996 as a Senior Sales Officer and Depot Manager in charge of the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West regions, Mr. Debrie worked at various times as a teacher, an assistant information officer for the Ministry of Information, and a public relations officer at Consumer Credit Limited, a credit finance company.
He worked for the UDS for 23 years, serving on several committees and boards as secretary and recorder, including the search committee for the appointment of a registrar in 2012 and 2021.
Preacher
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana's active member and lay preacher, declared he would strive as a team player to raise the flag of the EPUC to greater heights.
Professor Edem Kwasi Bakah, the president of the EPUC, congratulated Mr. Debrie on his new position and lauded the departing registrar for his commitment to duty.
With 55 students when it first opened its doors in 2008, the university today enrols around 900 people who are pursuing certificate and degree programmes in business, social sciences, agribusiness, environmental sciences, and modern languages.
