Izwe Savings and Loans has donated hospital equipment to the Klefe Health Center in the Ho municipality in the Volta region to enhance local healthcare delivery.
A total of four settlements in the Ho municipality, totaling roughly 5,000 people, are served by the Klefe Health Centre. To prevent inhabitants from having to travel great distances to the regional capital, Ho, for healthcare, the health facility was built around ten years ago.
The community and the Chief have mostly supported the centre despite some shortages. There is still more to be done, even if several charitable groups have assisted the centre in providing better treatment.
Before this, the health center's personnel had to spend several months travelling to the Ho Municipal Hospital to clean their medical equipment. Vivian Demetsu, the facility's charge nurse, acknowledged that working without an autoclave equipment had been challenging.
Before sending the four sets of delivery instruments for sterilisation, she explained, "we had to wait and utilise all four sets." After using a set, we carefully wrap it and store it until we receive permission from the Ho Municipal Hospital administration to submit it for sterilisation, she said.
She claimed that having unsterilized equipment at the clinic put the workers' health at danger. Izwe Savings and Loans made the decision to assist after learning about the facility's situation.
Hospital mattresses, curtain sets, bedsheets, cupboards, and several bedside tables and drawers for the wards were among the additional donations made by Izwe Savings and Loans. With these supplies, staff at the centre can treat patients comfortably since they are no longer need to go to the Ho Municipal Hospital to disinfect medical equipment.
Madam Demetsu praised Izwe for the intervention and expressed gratitude for the gesture.
