Communities in Mmofra Nfadwene and Yahoman celebrated the handing over of safe and reliable water wells after Voltic (GH) Limited, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), sponsored projects.
The community of Mmofra in Nfadwene with about 4,000 people is struggling to access bottled water as the available source is a stream that flows into a community that is not safe for human consumption.
The borehole has 6,000 installed capacity and can produce 20,000 liters of drinking water per day.
The handing over of the well to the Mmofra Nfadwene community at the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal event was attended by Chief Okoanadwo Afutu Dompreh II, Chief Nsawam Adoagyiri.
He said: “I am very grateful to Voltic for this valley because this community has been suffering from water shortages for years. I will personally ensure that this precious resource is preserved. ”
Voltic was represented by Tshidi Ramogase, Group Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Manager of the CCBA, Voltic Managing Director Flora Jika, and Worlasi Seddoh, manager of public affairs, communications, and Sustainability and other members of the national executive team.
Jika expressed his gratitude to the community for their support in the business.
“As a business, Voltic (GH) Limited is very committed to supporting communities that lack access to safe and quality drinking water. This is in line with our commitment to SDG Goal 6, which aims to ensure sustainable access to water and sanitation for all. ”
“South Africa's foreign policy is central to Ubuntu and to the AU 2063 agenda aimed at creating a sustainable economy and climate resilience. We also want to strengthen relations between Ghana and South Africa, ”said South African High Commissioner Janet Grace Mason, who attended the event.
Yahoman in Amasaman Municipality is a community of 3,200 farmers who grow okra, garden eggs, and maize. So far the community has relied on water from the dam which is also a breeding ground for cattle and other animals.
Yahoman Head of the Yahoman Family, Augustine Nii Akrashie Sackey said: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Voltic for their great support in this community. In the past guinea worm and other diseases like this affected people because we relied on a new dam during the dry season but from today we will not be infected with diseases like this. ”
Ramogase said that as a key ingredient in their products, water management is a major focus of CCBA.
"Reliable access to clean and safe water is essential to the health, environment and well-being of our communities," said Ramogase.
“The CCBA, together with the Coca-Cola Company, are at the forefront of using water efficiently in our work and returning it. We continue to manage water resources through projects that reduce water use in our operations, protect local water resources and provide safe, clean drinking water to communities in need.
“As part of the world's leading beverage company, we have a responsibility to use water as respectfully and efficiently as possible. We continue to look for new ways to reduce water use in our operations while purifying our wastewater to a very high standard.
"Because people need water to thrive, we support local water supply schemes that help bring clean, clean water to communities in need, and this valley is one of many activities like this during our work across the continent."
