Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reacted to the news that team-mate Mo Salah would stay at Liverpool after signing a record-breaking new contract with the club.
Speaking to Liverpool's official website, Oxlade-Chamberlain said Salah had been "a significant part of the squad for years now."
He also claimed the Egyptian would maintain his torrid form at Liverpool, confirming his confidence the striker would remain a vital figure at the Mersey 'for the next few years, God knows how many'.
Liverpool fans were overjoyed by the news of Salah's contract renewal, amid claims the Anfield club were prepared to transfer him for £60m this summer.
Salah will help build a new Liverpool top three of himself, Darwin Nuez and Luis Diaz.
Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and newcomer Fabio Carvalho will battle with the aforementioned stars for a starting spot.
When needed, Oxlade-Chamberlain himself can take on a more offensive role.
The Englishman played predominantly as a winger during his stint at Arsenal.
However, where the 28-year-old genuinely wants to play his game is inside Jürgen Klopp's engine room.
After leaving Arsenal for Liverpool in 2017, Oxlade-Chamberlain was up and running early, scoring a memorable goal in the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City in his debut season.
However, soon after that game, the Briton sustained a knee injury and hasn't been quite the same since.
With Liverpool having postponed the purchase of a new star midfielder until next summer, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been handed another chance to impress at Anfield.
He aspires to produce the goals that Jürgen Klopp has long craved from his Liverpool players.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will have some significant competition though, with the likes of Harvey Elliott, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, and Curtis Jones all competing for a starting berth in Oxlade-Chamberlain's role.
For now, he's just thrilled to learn that he will be able to continue playing alongside colleague Mo Salah next season.
