Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Manchester United's preseason tour due to a disciplinary decision.

Cristiano Ronaldo has missed Manchester United's return to pre-season training due to "family reasons," amid reports that he wants to leave the club, and will now miss the Asia-Australia tour.

Manchester United will not fine Cristiano Ronaldo despite his failure to return to training or agree to go on the club's summer tour.

Erik Ten Hag's team will depart for Thailand on Friday to begin their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, but Ronaldo will not be among them. The Portuguese legend has remained in Lisbon this week for 'family reasons,' and has informed United that he wishes to leave Old Trafford due to a lack of Champions League football and new signings this summer. He could join United for their tour of Australia, but this is unlikely.

United insists Ronaldo is not for sale and is determined to keep him for the remaining 12 months of his current contract. It has resulted in a damaging feud between the club and Ronaldo, which has become an unwelcome distraction for new manager Erik Ten Hag.

United has the option of fining Ronaldo because he is effectively breaking club rules by failing to fulfill his contractual obligations by not participating in the tour. To make matters worse, Ronaldo's absence from the money-making trip will have an impact on ticket and shirt sales, as well as attendance, because he has been used as the tour's poster boy.

However, United CEO Richard Arnold has decided not to sanction the £500,000-a-week superstar due to the sensitive reasons for his continued stay in Lisbon. Arnold is said to be "relaxed" about Ronaldo's potential absence from the tour, and is more concerned with resolving the striker's immediate future.

He is prepared to keep additional talks with Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, in an attempt to resolve the situation. Ronaldo, 37, wants to join a Champions League club that can help him win more trophies, and he believes United will not be able to help him fulfill his remaining club ambitions.

United will not sell him to Premier League rivals Chelsea, and Napoli and Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the former Real Madrid star.
