After long negotiations with the Ghana Football Association, the 28-year-old Spanish born has accepted to play for the Black Stars of Ghana earlier this week.
In an interview with TV3, Iñaki Williams said that people who met him asked him to play for the black stars and told him he is the best.
“The people [in Ghana] told me to play for Black Stars. They say I am a striker and I’m the best,” he said.
“They took pictures of me. It’s special for me because in Spain I am very famous but I didn’t know I was famous in Ghana.”
The Athletic Bilbao player also added that he is ready for the pressure playing for Ghana will bring and will give his 100 percent when giving the opportunity to serve the nation.
“The pressure is part of football. I have played about 300 games in Spain and the pressure is good for me. Going to the Black Stars. I will enjoy the pressure because this is important for me and my teammates.”
Inaki is set to make his debut for the Black Stars during the next international break when Ghana play Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
He also added that he has found his root now and he feels more Ghanaian now than ever.
The new Ghanaian forward announced his switch to Ghana with a sensational announcement video with over 3m+ views on twitter.
He says he is one of the black stars now and will do everything necessary to protect the Ghana jersey.
The famous Fabrizio Romano wished him good luck on twitter ahead of his upcoming journey with the Black Stars.
