Julian Alvarez, an Argentine winger on loan from his childhood club River Plate, has joined Manchester City and will replace Raheem Sterling.
Alvarez, 22, was signed in January 2022 for a reported fee of €17 million and was permitted to stay until the end of the season.
With English winger Raheem Sterling leaving the Etihad this summer, he is expected to take his place for the upcoming season.
We understand he is now an official city player after playing his last game earlier today against Velez Sarsfield in the South America CONMEBOL Libertadores quarter-finals, which he signed in January 2019.
Preferred positions on the right wing and as the main striker, he clocked 17 goals and 6 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions last season – the perfect finisher and high-pressing player for Pep Guardiola.
Alvarez finished his three-year stint in the Argentine capital this summer, having appeared in 100 games across all competitions, setting records of 48 goals, 24 assists, and 17 man-of-the-match honors.
