According to rumors, Manchester United may be poised to continue their summer of hijacking after the club emerged as a late contender to sign RB Leipzig attacker Brian Brobbey.It is understandable that rumors tying the Reds to a new striker are appearing given the uncertainty surrounding the future of the No. 9 position at United, especially in light of claims Cristiano Ronaldo is about to leave the club.
As of Thursday, it's been claimed that United will consider offers for their Portuguese legend, with rivals Chelsea apparently showing the most serious interest right now.
With that, Anthony Martial, who recently returned from a fruitless and injury-plagued loan spell at Sevilla, would be the only known striker in Erik ten Hag's squad.
United's interest in Dutch target man Brobbey was first reported by the German outlet BILD. According to the report, Ten Hag is eager to bring another well-known player to Old Trafford and the two have already spoken by phone about it.
Interestingly, Brobbey appeared to be returning to Ajax when his career in Germany stalled out.
With seven goals in eleven league appearances, the striker had a productive loan season with the Dutch champions under Ten Hag.
In spite of Ten Hag's departure, Ajax was eager to get the 20-year-old a permanent return home. Sebastien Haller's departure has left a huge gap up front for the Dutch team, but United may have entered the picture in time to put a major kink in the plans of the 36-time Eredivisie champions.
