Leeds Utd close to signing winger Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord
Sinisterra was part of the Feyenoord side which lost to Roma in the Europa Conference League final in May Leeds United have signed Colombia winger Luis Sinisterra from Dutch club Feyenoord. Sinisterra scored 23 goals and registered 14 assists in 49 appearances for Feyenoord last season. He helped the club reach the Europa Conference League final, with the Eredivisie side missing out on winning the trophy after a defeat by Roma. However, Sinisterra was named Uefa Europa Conference League Young Player of the Season, having scored six times and registering four assists in the inaugural season of the competition. He is seen by many as a replacement for Raphinha, who is holding out for a move to Barcelona while Chelsea and Arsenal are also keen on the Brazil winger. Sinisterra started his career in his homeland with Once Caldas before moving to Feyenoord during summer 2018. He becomes Leeds United's sixth summer signing with the club having already brought in Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi and Tyler Adams this summer. Luis Sinisterra: Victor Orta warned of serious mistake over signing as timeline on transfer to Leeds emerges
Leeds United are growing increasingly confident of securing the signing of Luis Sinisterra, with the Colombia star seen by Victor Orta as an ideal replacement for Raphinha. Whites winger Raphinha remains in a state of flux as the wait to secure his future continues. Indeed, with the player seemingly turning his back on a move to Chelsea, it’s now a case of Barcelona or bust for the Brazilian. Regardless of where his future lies, Leeds appear to be pressing on without him. To that end, the Whites have struck a deal with Feyenoord for Colombia winger Sinisterra. The 23-year-old will move to Elland Road off the back of an excellent season with the Rotterdam club. He registered 23 goals and added 14 assists as his club reached the UEFA Conference League final. And with Leeds agreeing an initial £21.4m (€25m) fee for Sinisterra, the club looks to have quickly found an able replacement for Raphinha. Indeed, as per reports, Sinisterra will sign a five-year deal at Elland Road, becoming their sixth arrival of the summer. And after tying up a deal for Tyler Adams on Wednesday, Leeds will now turn their attention to wrapping up the signing of Sinisterra. He will reportedly undergo a medical with Leeds on Thursday. And the Whites hope to confirm his signing before the end of the week. United depart on a pre-season tour of Australia on Sunday and want the signing of Sinisterra wrapped up before then. Indeed, there is much optimism around Leeds thanks to their summer transfer dealings. While they look likely to lose their two biggest names with Raphinha likely to join Kalvin Phillips in leaving, Victor Orta’s active nature on the transfer fron deserves applause. The fee for Sinisterra will represent a club-record sale for Feyenoord. And while many perceive his signing as a bargain, one observer has dropped a warning to Orta and Leeds over the deal. Indeed, De Telegraaf journalist Valentijn Driessen claims Leeds are paying way over the odds for Sinisterra. He says the fee, which could top £25.6m (€30m) with bonuses, is too lofty. And he reckons Feyenoord have done a good job securing that sort of cash from Leeds United. “This has everything to do with that Conference League, doesn’t it? Certainly the final phase and the fact that Feyenoord got that far,” Driessen told De Telegraaf. “That is, of course, the reason why he is so profitable because he showed himself in the Conference League and only in the final was he a bit less. But he is a player.
