Luis Suárez could be on his way to River Plate

Luis Suárez has yet to confirm his next move and has a number of clubs interested in signing him ahead of next season. River Plate are one of those teams hoping to land the veteran striker this summer and are close to a deal, according to reports in South America. The Uruguayan would be a great addition to River’s team and the Argentine League, with his goalscoring ability and experience. Suárez would join the Buenos Aires-based club to fill the position left by Julian Álvarez who is about to leave for Manchester City. If the deal does materialise, it would see Suárez return to South America 16 years after leaving Uruguayan club Nacional for Ajax. European clubs interested in Suárez The former Liverpool and Atlético Madrid striker has been linked with clubs in Europe, including Sevilla, Fiorentina and Aston Villa. Now, at the age of 35, he coming towards the end of a successful career but has one eye on this year’s World Cup with Uruguay in Qatar. AI platform Olocip has made a prediction of his performance at River during his first 10 months in Argentina and only taking league matches into account. In that period of time, the platform predicts Suárez to have an average goalscoring rate of 0.47 per 90′, almost one goal every two games. In his last year at Atlético, he had a goals per game average of 0.42. Olocip also expects Suárez to average 0.16 assists per 90′. The Uruguayan would undoubtedly fit in well with Marcelo Gallardo’s set-up at River although Artificial Intelligence believes he would not reach his numbers with Atlético or those he notched up during his time with Barcelona. The 35-year-old is currently on holiday in Ibiza as he recovers from a knee injury.
