Mr. Emmanuel Lumor, Volta Regional Manager for Ghanaian Electricity Company (ECG), said the region's electricity supply was stable.
He said by committing himself to transform service delivery, the company has invested in a series of interventions that include buffering transformer systems, as well as the development of power lines and network systems.
The District Manager was speaking to the Senior Municipal and District Officials (MDCE) from the district where the stakeholder interviews were held in Ho, and said the District was enlightened by industries attracted to sustainable electricity supply.
“We have reduced the Volta shutdown from Aflao to Denu. We are committed to improving the system, and we have enough power now in any industry that needs to be established, ”he said. Lumor.
He said many power lines had been replaced, and systems had been connected to networks to ensure uninterrupted access.
The company is working to establish an improved power transformer in Sokode, where the Ho Municipality is expanding while building a small substation in Peki, a fast-growing industrial center.
The Regional Manager said the negative availability of electricity in Kpetoe was discussed.
“Once we have established an electricity system in Volta, we will attract investors and develop the economy. Industries have arrived in well-served areas, and everyone must step in to ensure that businesses come to Volta ”.
Mr. Lumor said the company has worked to maintain the stability of the power supply and has an active maintenance unit and systems to prevent disconnection in the affected areas only.
“Today we have started putting smiles on the faces of our customers. We believe that once we are appointed to do the job, that job must be done, ”he said.
The District Manager said customer feedback was closely monitored, with 24-hour sessions being conducted at customer care centers from across the District.
However, he said the challenges of meter allocation were still ongoing, adding that members of Parliament should intervene in the process, hoping that negotiations with the MDCE would help alleviate the situation.
Mr. Lumor assured us that an effective metering system had been put in place to help prevent corruption and fraud and that the Company would participate in negotiations with the MDCEs to provide basic services.
Drs. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, who chaired the meeting, praised the move to deepen working relationships with local government heads, who he said would help improve access to electricity in communities.
"The ECG is a very important sector when it comes to services for our people," he said, expressing hope that the meter shortages and violations of the law would be resolved through negotiations.
The District Minister called on the Company to consider technology in the fight against counterfeit electricity and said that the District would maintain and increase stakeholder engagement to disrupt service delivery across all sectors.
The meeting brought together key Company executives in the Region, with the MDCE taking turns presenting complaints about the distribution of electricity in their regions.
