Continuing to choose to be rescued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) does not make sense, says New Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako.
Also, he said it does not make him a proud Ghanaian.
Earlier this year, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta said Ghana was a "proud" country of "powerful" people who could find their own solutions to their problems and, therefore, would not run to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for help. .
Speaking for the third time in a series of town hall meetings in the capital of the North Tamama region in February, Mr Ofori-Atta said: “… I can tell you, as my partner Deputy Minister said, we are not going to the IMF; whatever we do, we are not; bad results, we are a proud nation, we have resources, we are strong ”.
“Don't let anyone tell you — just as Joshua, Caleb, and 10 others spied out the Promised Land and only two came and said, 'We can do it,' and 10 went around complaining. , 'You can't; da da da da da ’; we are not visually impaired and we had to move on, so, let's think about who we are: a proud, powerful, bright African star and we have the power to do what we want to do when it ends. we can speak one language and ensure that we carry the burden of future issues ”.
However, at the behest of President Akufo-Addo, Mr Ofori-Atta recently opened talks with the IMF to rescue him.
The IMF team began talks on the Ghanaian program a few days ago.
Commenting on the change of events on Thursday, July 7, 2022, Kweku Baako said: “I have always had a problem with the IMF and let me tell you the truth: while it is a government right to choose that, I feel that. I am ashamed ”.
"I remember in 2015, I felt the same way even though I made it clear that it was the government's right to do so but I regretted it in 2009," recalls Mr Baako.
“Therefore, it is not good enough and we will not be able to keep going and every time we take a plan, we seem to be successful in implementing this plan and within three to four years, we are back to normal; it doesn't make sense. It does not make Ghana proud, ”Kweku Baako told Accra-based Metro TV.
