Former FIFA President Sepp Blatter and ex-UEFA President have both been cleared of corruption charges by a Swiss court on Friday, July 8. Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini, once the most powerful figures in world football, were accused of corruption seven years ago. According to Sky Sports, prosecutors had accused Blatter, who led FIFA as president for 17 years, and Platini of unlawfully arranging for FIFA to pay the France legend two million Swiss francs (£1.7m) in 2011.
However, reports suggest that Blatter was exonerated of fraud by the Federal Criminal Court in the southern city of Bellinzona, Switzerland. Platini, a former France national team captain and manager, was also cleared of fraud by the aforementioned court.
