The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has excused claims that administration is the reason for the nation's decrease in the 2022 Press Freedom Index.

Talking in Parliament, the Minister noticed that after thorough examinations, the downturn can be credited to unfortunate compensation of columnists.

In May, it became visible that Reporters Without Borders (RSF) in its Press Freedom Index had positioned Ghana in the 60th position.

The most recent report implied the nation had dropped 30 spots from the past position.

Following the disclosure, significant discussion happened with some accusing state specialists' assaults on columnists as the reason for the downturn.

Yet, tending to the House on Thursday, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said the powerlessness of media houses to enough compensation their columnists is a significant reason for the downfall.

He made sense of that with the exception of the financial setting, the press in Ghana performed very well under the other four boundaries of the new technique.

That's what the Minister showed:

Lawful system - 81.42%

Social setting - 79.64%

 Political setting - 66.61%

Security of writers - 62.25%

Financial setting - 47.22%

On the rear of this, the Information Minister noticed that financial setting "hauled us vigorously on the composite score."

What's more, here, [Economic] RFS alludes to the destitution of individual columnists and media houses. What's more, the realities are clear in this country that since we have opened up the media scene broadly which is something excellent, various media houses have jumped up and a lump of them battle to earn barely enough to get by.

"Indeed, even this week, you will find various reports about certain media houses battling to pay rates and the RFS fights that when writers are not paid, the capacity to do a consecrated free occupation is sketchy," he made sense of.

As of now, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has censured segments of the 2022 World Press Freedom Index which labeled the Akufo-Addo organization as "prejudiced of analysis from residents and the media."

Ghana's media is the freest ever - NPP responds to World Press Freedom positioning

That's what the Party contended, interestingly, the media under the NPP is the freest ever.

The NPP's Director of Communications, Yaw Boaben Asamoa noticed that the party's commitment to the development of the media under the Fourth Republic is somewhat outstanding.

"The NPP accepts Ghana's media is the freest ever and that its commitment to media development are unmatched in the Fourth Republic.

"In total, NPP decriminalized discourse, upheld framework and preparing with the International Press Center and backing reserves and further developed range allotments and administrative oversight," he said.
