Francis Essel-Okyeahene, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Young Executive School (YES) in Kasoa in the Central Region, has given the Awutu Senya East Municipal Fire Station an unknown sum of money for the repair of a malfunctioning fire tender.

Mr. Essel-Okyeahene urged people and business organisations to help the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) by helping to maintain and repair vehicles that were malfunctioning and by adhering to all fire safety precautions to prevent the start of fires.

Yes, the fire department is a part of the government, but I think we can work with it to make efficient decisions for our own good. We must all work together to avoid fires, therefore let's do everything we can to do that.

He emphasised the necessity for all Ghanaians to take preventive action to stop fire breakouts rather than waiting until anything goes wrong before calling the fire department.

The vice president of the West Africa Union of Tax Institute (WAUTI), Mr. Essel-Okyeahene, pointed out that Ghanaians were well aware of the terrible effects of fire and the need to be proactive in the battle against breakouts.

Repair

In response to a question about what prompted the support for the repair of the broken-down fire tender, he said he had learned about the condition of the vehicle and was asked to help get it back on the road to help the municipality's fleet of firefighting vehicles.

He continued by saying that when the defect had been evaluated, a fee for its repair was then presented.

Gregory Joseph Martin, the GNFS Assistant Division Officer in charge of Fire Safety, who was given the funds, praised Mr. Essel-Okyeahene and asked other wealthy people and business entities to follow in his footsteps.

Appeal

In order for the fire service to function properly in the municipality, he said, "We also appeal to other people and corporate entities to come to our help." He added that the department's main goal was to keep the municipality fire-free.

He said that despite the fire tender's flaws, service personnel continued to conduct sensitization campaigns in places like marketplaces and churches, among other places.
