There is no more accurate data than market food prices - Dan Kwaku Yeboah fumes.
Food prices skyrocket
Dan Kwaku Yeboah criticizes Food and Agriculture Minister
Sports journalists are referred to statistical service data by Dr. Akoto Afriyie's friends.
Dan Kwaku Yeboah, a well-known sports journalist, has dismissed accusations of malice leveled against him by a group calling itself Friends of Dr Afriyie Akoto.
According to the journalist, under the current minister of food and agriculture, the group has refused to acknowledge the reality of rising food prices.
He went on to say that they interpret his criticism of the minister as malicious.
"Did I say something? All I was trying to say was that to whom much is given, much is expected. "They want me to go to Ghana Statistical Service. The money that President Nana Addo has allocated to your sector is greater than what we are going to seek from the IMF, and yet we buy a finger of plantain for five cedis." "Does plantain get sold there?" Dan Kwaku Yeboah was questioned in response to the Friends of Dr Afriyie Akoto petition delivered to the management of Despite Media.
The group has petitioned Despite Media's management over what they call malicious attacks on the Minister of Agriculture.
According to the group, it has learned of a deliberate attempt by the celebrated sports journalist to portray the minister as a failure in the agricultural sector in the face of rising food prices.
However, data from the Ghana Statistical Service, according to the group, paints a picture that contradicts what the journalist has suggested about the minister's performance.
"It is made even more painful by the fact that Mr Kwaku Yeboah has refused to learn about the progress made by this government; how the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, led by Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has contributed to the development of this country."
"His claims that the minister has refused to focus on his official duties are a figment of his imagination." For the avoidance of doubt, we would like to refer Mr Kwaku Yebooah to recent data from the Ghana Statistical Service, which shows agriculture as the only sector that has seen consistent growth since 2020," the group wrote in their petition.
According to the group, they are tempted to believe that the journalist is being pushed to do the bidding of individuals who are threatened by the minister's popularity, who is said to be preparing to run for the New Patriotic Party's flagbearership.
"It's unclear whether this is done with the tacit approval of management or the show's host. His heinous and unjustified criticism can only be motivated by hatred. "We do not want to believe that he is being used as a conduit by people who are threatened by the honorable minister's popularity," the group added in their petition, which was signed by King Kojo Abubada.
However, Dan Kwaku Yeboah emphasized in his response to the group, "What data is more accurate than going to the market to buy plantain?" Kwame, this man is running for president, and because we criticized his ministry, he has gathered so-called friends to issue a press release. Then Nana Addo's (President) friends should be releasing a thousand books every week."
