According to the management of the school, 23 Ideal College students were hurt after being beaten by certain police officials and land guards.
Three of the pupils had serious injuries, while the other 20 only suffered minor ones, according to Naphtali Kyei Baffour, the school's public relations officer, in an interview with Accra-based CitiFM.
"Unfortunately, there are three pupils who have suffered severe injuries, and there are also roughly 20 students who have minor injuries. The majority of the female pupils are terrified. We've talked to them in an effort to relax them. Right now, everything is in control, he claimed.
He clarified that the students had attempted to fend off some land guards and policemen who were attempting to tear down buildings that had been erected by the students.
The land guards and police officers attacked them in an effort to halt the demolition, inflicting injuries on the students in the process.
"They were land guards travelling with individuals in uniform who identified themselves as belonging to the counterterrorism team. They arrived in a GV-registered car. We have a plot of land where we hope to build a meeting room and possibly dormitories. Where we raised the foundation for the assembly hall, that is what they intended to destroy. The assembly has given us authorization to start building," he stated.
Land guards have attempted to demolish buildings on the school's property before.
The PRO claims that several land guards who were spotted on the property in February 2022 disclosed that a guy by the name of Dzato was responsible for the demolition.
"The school has not formally given us anything. But in February 2022, when we came across some individuals on the site, they informed us that a certain Dzato had claimed ownership and that they intended to demolish the building, according to Kyei Baffour.
He said that the institution is getting ready to submit a petition to the Inspector General of Police for consideration.
