WHY CHELSEA COULD BE A DANGEROUS TEAM IN THE UPCOMING SEASON

Even with a very uninteresting transfer market, Chelsea is still a team to watch in the upcoming football season. Despite the fact that they have not yet announced any new roster additions, it is expected that they will do so very soon.

Last season, Chelsea led the Premier League rankings for a majority of the first half before beginning to struggle in the first week of December. Poor consistency on Chelsea's part allowed Liverpool and Manchester City to surge past them in the standings and open up a sizable lead.

Injuries to key players, concerns about COVID-19, fixture congestion, and a ban by the UK government all contributed to the blues' diminished ability to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool last season.

Despite all of their problems, Chelsea made it to two domestic league finals, both of which they lost to Liverpool in on penalties.

Because of the many factors we shall discuss below, Chelsea should be considered a very dangerous team to play against in the next Premier League season, which begins in four weeks.

Thomas Tuchel

Having Thomas Tuchel as their head coach ensures that Chelsea will always be a formidable opponent. In January of 2021, the German strategist was hired by Chelsea, a club that was in a dire state of disrepair and in desperate need of assistance.

There's no denying that Thomas Tuchel is talented, and after a year of studying the club, he'd be much more effective in his role as coach. During the summer transfer window, he will likely also bring in some new players who share his outlook on the game.

A Possible Change In Team Formation

Both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left the team this summer, and both were integral parts of Thomas Tuchel's three-man central defensive structure since Tuchel took over as manager. This suggests that Tuchel will likely switch to a different configuration for the upcoming season.

As well as requiring some players to play out of position, Chelsea's three-man center defense greatly reduced their attacking efficiency last season.

Thomas Tuchel might revert Chelsea's three-man center defense to a four-man defense, resulting in increased attacking output and making Chelsea a more dangerous opponent, despite the Blues' plans to strengthen their central defense with new signings before the transfer window shuts.

The Anticipated New Signings

Many top players, including Raheem Sterling, Matthijs De Ligt, Nathan Ake, and Raphinha, are in serious talks to join Chelsea this summer.

By the time the transfer window closes, Chelsea will be better prepared for the upcoming season than they were at the beginning of the previous campaign.
