COLA strike: Govt to meet coordinated work on July 12

The Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations will meet individuals from coordinated work for the second time on July 12, 2022.

The associations, containing the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT), are requesting that 20% of their fundamental compensation be paid to them.

 

They put their modern activity on government's inability to pay the COLA, which they contend might have assisted with alleviating the effect of the increasing cost for most everyday items.

 

However, after a June 30 cutoff time was depleted, the laborers have removed their administrations, both in and outside the study hall.

 

In the mean time, School Authorities have been constrained to depend on National Service Personnel (NSP) without a trace of the striking educators.

 

As indicated by the representative for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng, the utilization of NSP is important for an emergency course of action carried out to moderate the impact of the strike.

 

"The alternate course of action, I am mindful that National Service Personnel are at post and they are helping along with the overseers of training, both at the local and the region levels with some school Management," he said.

 

He expressed that the Ministry is attempting to determine the issue for the instructors to continue their posts.
