There are some gaps in business and human rights that need immediate repair, according to a national baseline review.
If the gaps are closed, government and business protection of human rights will improve, and there will be a response to violations of human rights in Ghana.
The report, which was commissioned by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), assesses how well the Ghanaian government has implemented the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights since they were approved in July of last year.
At a formal event to launch the report, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame stated that "the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights will promote a harmonious relationship with which both business and communities can thrive by providing a framework that is conducive to business and human rights compliance." a thorough structure for coordinating multi-sectoral activities to guarantee human rights compliance in company operations.
He claims that this will also give direction to state and non-state actors on the necessity of conducting all corporate activities in conformity with human rights principles.
Joseph Whittal, the CHRAJ commissioner, outlined the report's focus on the labour, petroleum, financial, and mining sectors of the economy.
He continued by saying that the documents also evaluate "the government's progress in fulfilling its obligations to respect, protect, and uphold human rights and fundamental freedoms, the level of compliance of businesses in upholding human rights in the course of their business operations, and the existence of appropriate and effective judicial and non-judicial remedies.

Although some government policies, laws, treaties, and institutions adhere to the UN Guiding Principles (UNGPs), the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights noted that there are still some gaps that demand urgent attention to improve the protection of, and respect for, human rights by the government and businesses, as well as provide redress for human rights abuses in Ghana.
