NDC DELEGATION AT GENEVA FOR COUNCIL OF SOCIALIST MEETING

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) joined the Council of Socialist international in Geneva, Swizerland for a meeting.The Council is the gathering of all political groups in the world that associate with the idea and principle of the Socialist style of governance,” their purpose is to strengthen relations between the affiliated parties and to coordinate their political attitudes and activities”

The convention which ended yesterday talked about “working for peace and international security based on the shared principles and rules” and “Strengthening democracy and ensuring fundamental Human rights"

 According to the press statement by the NDC party, The NDC delegation was led by the General Secretary Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito who also doubles as the Vice president of the council, accompanying him was the member of parliament for the Constituency in the Upper East Region Hon Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, Dr Karl Mark Arhin NDC deputy Director of International Relation and a lecturer at KAAF and Ms Millicent Amankwa Yeboah a Child right advocate and the parliament candidate for Sunyani West.

NDC is the largest opposition party in Ghana currently and the only popular Social democratic political  party in Ghana.The party is the longest-serving Ghana government in Ghana’s 4th republic according to their website  since 2009 they have created 341,000 formal sector jobs complimenting the 400,000 jobs through the private sector via the government infrastructure projects likewise many other projects in other sectors 

 

Former President John Mahama was their Flag bearer in the 2020 Presidential election which He lost to the incumbent government but protested by going to the Supreme Court over anomalies in the result declared by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.The supreme  court of Ghana rejected the application stating the NDC didn’t provide enough evidence.

Notwithstanding The NDC has the highest number of minority caucus in the history of the Ghanaian Parliament house with the NPP side becoming the Majority with independent members pledging allegiance.
