The 27-year-old is a very good left-footed centre-back who has extensive experience in Europe. Tottenham will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, and Conte needs experienced players at the top of their game. Spurs will also be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season, and Lenglet will addd depth to the squad. Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet's move to Tottenham is imminent
04/07/2022 Upd. at 19:01 CEST Clement Lenglet will leave Barcelona in the coming hours. There is a meeting between Barça, Tottenham and the player's camp on Monday to define the agreement between the clubs and finalise the move. Lenglet, who spoke with Tottenham coach Antonio Conte, had some doubts but finally opened up to the move on Friday and now it's a question of working on the salary commitments of both sides. If there are no twists, the loan move will be made official soon. The French defender was not present for medical tests in Barcelona on Monday as Xavi's side kicked off preseason. He has been given permission to resolve his future. He will move to London on a one-year loan initially, while Spurs will reserve the right to make the deal permanent for €10 million. Lenglet was finally convinced by the chance to play regular football for a Champions League team. He was waiting to see if Juventus' initial interest developed into anything more firm but a chat with Conte sold him on White Hart Lane. The goal now is to get minutes, play well and, hopefully, convince France coach Didier Deschamps to take him to the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
